Chapters Transcript Video How can these findings help improve patient care and potentially save lives? Listen to Dr. Sean Pokorney explain these common challenges and how we can work together to treat more patients safely and effectively. D061665-00 A lot of this ends up being systems of care issue. And 11 of the challenges and and one of the things that leads to the gap in care is that oftentimes the providers that first identify these infections and may manage these infections are not necessarily the same providers that perform extraction procedures. And so getting these patients identified by people that have expertise in the management of these device infections with extraction over time is one of the challenges that we have in the health care system. And so we need to be able to identify these patients who have an infection with an uncommon IT pacemaker defibrillator. We need to make sure that we get them on antibiotics. We need to make sure that we get them evaluated by extractors so that we can determine which patients would benefit with extraction and hardware removal. And then we need to get those patients to those centers that can do it safely and effectively.
